The only reason this album is down this low is because I already had all the songs but one -- it’s a “best of” album. They did very well at choosing the best songs and sequencing them.

Amazon.com sales rank:  141,913

In objective terms, the album is strong and has memorable melodies.  But I was disappointed that they dropped the electronics, and the lyrics are quite dark, as you might guess from the title.

This is the album that made me a J.S. Bach fan back in 7th grade, but I never managed to get the album back then.  Extremely rare -- so happy to get it this year.

After Andy Hunter’s previous rather disappointing album, it’s great to have him back in full force again with driving electronic dance music.  Perfect music, though I still wanted more lyrically.

Nearly a tie for #1.  Melodic vocal trance music is by far my favorite style of music.  This is the first Christian album I’ve ever heard in the genre.  The lyrics are awesome too.

Miss Angie is back!!!  She was one of my favorite artists of the 1990s, then she disappeared...until now. A different style of music than before, but as fascinating as always.

ABOUT THE 2011 AWARDS

At last the tide turned, and for the first time since 2008, I had a full-time job in 2011, so finally I was able to start purchasing music more freely again.

Finding good Christian music continues to get more and more difficult every year.  As the big music labels have deteriorated into only offering bland mass appeal music, and small labels have become more rare as the internet enables individual artists to distribute their own music, finding music now involves more persistent web searching and frankly, sometimes accidentally stumbling onto things.  But the search was worth it -- all of the albums on my list this year are really good, all the way down to the last item on the list.
